trend report

floral flight

Inspired by home decor, the hottest fashion trends are rich, luscious fabrics, such as tapestry and brocade. But be aware that floral prints and textures can be unflattering if you don't wear them wisely. Narrow hips should opt for a printed skirt to add curves. Camouflage fuller hips and thighs by pairing a printed jacket with a simple A-line skirt to draw the eye upward. For a refined finish, balance out the combination with sexy heels.

fashion q & a

q I am interested in purchasing a fashionable item that donates money to support breast-cancer causes. Any suggestions?

a The "Positively Pink" limited-edition Coach watch ($298; exclusively at Coach stores and Macy's) donates $100 from each sale in October to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF). We also love Burberry's leather trench coat ($1,895; at select Burberry stores nationwide in October). Thirty percent of retail sales will also be donated to BCRF.

editor's pick

Look ultrachic in over-the-knee boots. We love Sergio Rossi's giraffe-print pony boots ($1,260; at select Sergio Rossi boutiques nationwide). For up-to-the-minute style, pair them with chocolate-brown skinny-leg pants and a fitted cream blouse.

unique butik

Danish supermodel and phoriotwearrapher Helena Christensen and her partner, floral designer Leif Sigersen, recently opened Butik (meaning "specialty store" in Danish), in the heart of New York City's West Village. The shop sells everything from vintage clothing to home adornments such as flowers, candles and chocolate. The store's decor gives off an eclectic vibe that transports you straight to Denmark (located at 605 Hudson St., NYC, 212-367-8014).
